Rebecca Finberg Joins DASF as Executive Director

Denton Animal Support Foundation, Inc. (DASF) Chairwoman, Bette Sherman announced that the foundation Board has hired Rebecca Finberg as Executive Director. A resident of Denton, Mrs. Finberg is a graduate of University of North Texas with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Leadership of Community and Nonprofit Organizations. She is pursuing her Master of Public Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Management.

Mrs. Finberg has served in several different capacities that include volunteer management, event coordination, and program implementation while in previous positions at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the North Texas Food Bank.

“Rebecca has the exact experience, training and education for the Executive Director position” stated Sherman; “she will help lead the foundation to increased growth and broader impact on the critical issues of animal welfare in our community.” Since 2006, DASF has been a volunteer-only organization supporting adoption and medical programs in the Denton animal shelter, as well as other animal initiatives. Having a professional Executive Director is a major step forward that will enable DASF to save more animals.

Mrs. Finberg and her husband David Hand adopted their cat, Mumford from the Denton shelter in 2010.
