Our Name Has Changed to Denton Animal Support Foundation
We’ve changed our name to Denton Animal Support Foundation (still DASF) to reflect the broad scope of programs and initiatives that we are undertaking. We will continue to support the abandoned pets at the City of Denton Animal Shelter, as we always have. Not only does the Foundation raise money to support the shelter, its facilities and adoption programs, DASF is also strategically focusing on community outreach with animal welfare initiatives and public education.
Our official name has changed following the January 2015 opening of the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center, made possible after DASF initiated a public/private partnership with the City of Denton and raised $2.2 million for the new shelter.
While the new shelter, located at 3717 North Elm Street, is a wonderful new state-of-the-art facility, it is only the first step in confronting the significant challenges of managing the unwanted and uncared for animal population in the area. The DASF mission is to SAVE MORE DENTON AREA ANIMALS.
DASF’s Adoption Subsidy program has already provided more than $100,000 to lower adoption fees, and our Medical Emergency Program has provided more than $35,000 for the medical treatment of sick and injured animals. The Awareness Campaign has put the images of thousands of available pets in front of potential adoptive families, and our public education programs — in cooperation with DISD — are reaching into the schools to provide an early appreciation of the need for animal care.
Donations are needed! By donating to DASF, you will help shelter pets as well as local initiatives that prevent animal homelessness and neglect.
